Compliance Monitoring

Assessing the potential impact of works on the environment

PFAS Impact Monitoring

2017-2018

Austral has assisted the recent investigations into the potential impact of the fire fighting foam, more specifically the per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) that may have bioaccumulated in macroinvertebrates, fish and aquatic plants. This work has necessitated specific species to be targeted, collected and stored according to strict laboratory conditions and we are proud to be a repeat provider of this service in a variety of locations in NSW and Victoria.

Impact assessment from discharge

2017- 2019

Austral continues to conduct water quality, marine macroinvertebrate, and sediment surveys to determine the impacts of pollution events in two Victorian ports.

Hydrological and water quality investigations for Surges Creek bridge replacement

Department of State Growth 2016

Austral teamed with Jacobs to deliver this project. The project determined the likely hydrology and water quality issues to be incurred with bridge replacement over Surges Creek, Tasmania. Field investigations included baseline water quality testing, soil coring and metals/nutrient assessment, and sediment deposit monitoring. Management and monitoring recommendations were made for bridge replacements works (pre and post construction).
